Welcome to the Mathis Family Website
Out With The Old In With The New

Hello all and welcome to the new family website. I decided a couple of weeks ago that it was time to move the site unto the newest technologies. This decision was based partly upon the fact that our father Bill Mathis was having issues logging in because of some bug and Gail was having issues with old gallery code. This doesn't suprise me considering the old site was about 4 years old and had just been copied over from my old server to this new server. You may already know this, but the old site was hosting out of my house while this new one resides in a data center on a rather powerful web server with plenty of speed for viewing photos and videos.

The idea of this site is to have a central location to store family photos, videos, news and genealogy that is backed up to multiple locations regularly. This keeps family data safe from being lost. Those of you who have helped work on this site in the past know that I have been able to migrate all of the data through about four site upgrades now, which I think is great.

I have already migrated the photos, calendar data and genealogy over and I am working on migrating the video and audio files. (I just need to write a couple of database scripts to populate the database for the video and audio clips). I am converting all of the videos to flash and they will be viewable in embedded flash players.

Thanks for dropping in and please let meĀ  know if you would like to add content so that I can get account privleges setup for you.

Please register for an account to view photos, videos, genealogy and more. Those of you who had previously registered on the old site should be able to use your old username and password to login. If you don't remember your login just reach out to me and I can help.

A few years ago Chris and I got our hands on several very old reels of super 8 video footage from LeeRoy Mathis before he died. We started converting them into digital format 3 years ago. Even though we still have along way to go, the video that's coverted is now uploaded to the server and ready to watch.

Video Conversion and Migration in Progress

Per my previous update, I am working on converting and migrating videos from the old site over to this site. It's a slow process because the videos on the old site were in avi format and were sitting in a download area however we want them to be in flash format so that they can be watched directly on the page in a flash player.
